Bill Harvey has been a supporter of and advocate for WHSAD since the inauguration of our CTE program in 2009. A long-time fixture in Williamsburg’s artist community, and in the neighborhood of our school specifically, Bill has sought to create numerous opportunities for our students over the past 9 years, and continues to connect WHSAD students and teachers with professionals who care as deeply as he does about the education of the next generation’s architects and designers. Bill has been instrumental in the development of our partnership with real estate development firm Heritage Equity Partners, a company that has sponsored projects and design competitions for the last four years, and has hosted interns and hired graduates. Last year he brought colleagues from SVA and Areaware to visit our classrooms and meet our students, in advance of launching a high-school “incubator” based on the one for graduate students at SVA. Bill’s tireless advocacy on behalf of WHSAD and our students has led to numerous opportunities for students, including mentoring, internships, and site visits around NYC. It is for this reason that we would like to recognize Bill’s ongoing relationship with WHSAD and thank him for his work, past, present, and future, to make the best possible education for our students.

The following is a report from Jordan Gonzalez on the night:
On December 5, the Incubator club went to Tweed Courthouse in appreciation of William Harvey’s partnership with CTE High School and SVA High School. When we entered Tweed Courthouse, CTE High School representatives welcomed and directed us to the ceremony room. As we took our seats and settled in, projectors showed the multiple projects that have taken place at the school. The event provided food made by the school’s own students who specialize in culinary arts.
During the ceremony, Chancellor Richard Carranza spoke, thanking all involved for their efforts in the school and making it a successful pathway for high school students. Even a student from CTE High School had a speech thanking the school and sharing her story about moving to NYC and how CTE High School provided her with options to pursue her interests and hone her skills.
