The Hagia Sophia (fully constructed 6th century AD during Emperor Justinian’s rule), an excellent example of Byzantine Architecture and Cultural Diffusion. It was built to be an Eastern Orthodox church, was once briefly a Roman Catholic church, and it ultimately was used as a Mosque when the Ottomans conquered the Byzantine Empire in 1453 AD. Now it is a museum in Istanbul, Turkey (formerly known as Constantinople).
