A dilation is a transformation that causes a figure to change size but keep the same shape. The image and the preimage are similar. This means that a dilation is NOT an isometry and it is the only type of transformation that we will work with this year that isn't. This notation means that we simply take our k (scale factor) and multiple it by the x and y values of our coordinates to get a new point. If 0<k<1 we get a smaller figure. If k>1 we get a larger figure.
