WHSAD Students Participate in 25 Kent Street Groundbreaking
(Note - the following post was written by WHSAD student Patryk Pozarlik) My name is Patryk Pozarlik and I am a junior at WHSAD. I was afforded the opportunity to attend the ground breaking ceremony of the 25 Kent Street construction site. Along with site developer Toby Moskovitz, many of those involved gave speeches about the future benefits the new building will bring to Brooklyn. Everyone took photos as the VIP’s took the first scoop of the soil with a shovel, a tradition when an important groundbreaking event is undertaken. After the ceremony, my fellow students and I were invited to the new Williamsburg hotel for lunch and networking with some important people from the construction and architecture fields. Each of us were given … [Read more...]

Christina Delancy – Class of 2015
Christina Delancy, WHSAD Class of 2015, currently attends the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, NY, where she is majoring Landscape Architecture. “My favorite/most memorable part about attending WHSAD is when we took a field trip to go see, A Raisin In The Sun starring Denzel Washington, in my junior year after we had finished reading the play in Mr. Rodriguez’s English class. My advice to current students is to take as many AP exams and free college courses as you can so that you can already have those credits under your belt when you reach college.” … [Read more...]
WHSAD Students Partner With French Volunteers to Perform Restoration Work at Greenwood Cemetery
Proof that France’s generosity to the U.S. didn’t end with independence or the Statue of Liberty was found in Brooklyn’s historic Green-Wood Cemetery this past Wednesday when volunteers from the renowned preservationist organization Union REMPART braved a mid-summer sun to clean and treat the “Angel of Music,” a striking bronze sculpture that marks the tomb of Louis Moreau Gottschalk, the U.S.’s first internationally famous composer and one of Green-Wood’s most venerable interments. While the preservationists took a short break, Arturo Juarez and Alexis Rojo, students from Williamsburg High School of Architecture — partnered with Preservation Volunteers — passed high-pressure sprayers all over the Angel. Jasmine Cumberbatch is currently In her sophomore year at Arcadia University studying Interior Design. “One of the best features of WHSAD is honestly the teachers.
