Sam Maynard, Education director of Donmar Warehouse in London, began his workshop on the classic William Shakespeare play Julius Caesar with, “By the end of this workshop and after you view the play you will agree that a play written over 400 years ago about a person who lived over 2,000 years ago is still relevant to us today.” This was an ambitious statement, but one that over the course of the last few days was one that was well proven here at the Williamsburg HS for Architecture and Design (WHSAD). Community Murals Week 1, David Segarra
By David Segarra, Junior In school we learn about the community and the role each of us plays in it, yesterday I was able to be part of a project that brings together the different parts of the community. WHSAD and Greenpoint Youth Court students are lucky enough to be part of the design and planning of a Groundswell Mural. The mural was made possible because of the Greenpoint Chamber of Commerce. WHSAD has been part of the graffiti removal which has been also sponsored by the Chamber. At the first meeting we met the people who made the mural possible Jeff Mann who is the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Elaine Brodsky the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, and Gina Argento a Board member.
