Aim: ¿Qué es el Día de los muertos? (What is the Day of the Dead) Objectives: Students learned about the Day of the Dead holiday celebrated in Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries. They learned about the offrerings (altars) people make for their dead relaties, and the festivities that occur during the 31th of October (day of cleaning and preparations), November 1st (All saint's day - for the children), and November 2nd (adults). Students learned about the monarch buterfly, and how many people believe the spirits of their love ones come back on the wings of the buterflies. Have you ever wondered what happens when you leave the room? Is the room still there? Do teachers exist when they're not in front of you? Do they have lives (we do)? If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound? Excellent. I wonder these things myself (I especially wonder if students read these posts).
