In the past month, Ms. Moos and Mr. O’Brien, the Junior Architecture teachers, assigned their students a comic book project in the Building and Design class. Students were asked to use their creativity and drawing skills as well as concepts taught in class to design a comic book with a backstory. It's been awhile since these WHSAD alumni have been at WHSAD, but many have lots of positive things to say about their experiences in high school and how WHSAD helped them in college. Vincente Gomez-Class of 2018 What does a typical week/day look like for you? "I am a senior at Pace University, studying computer science with a minor in criminal justice and cyber security. WHSAD Juniors’ Stop Motion Films
Ms. Moos and Mr. O'Brien had a very interesting project for their junior students in the Building and Design class. Lake Como Presentation
On Friday, June 5th, Mahalia Saint-Eloi and Deselle Thompson presented their proposed redesigns for Lake Como to the town's committee. After Hurricane Sandy, the lake became toxic, and the wildlife degraded. That's why revitalizing the lakefront by adding new plants and creating areas where wildlife can flourish as well as creating a fun but also sustainable environment is important. The title of the project is Lake Como’s Fun & Wildlife Lakefront Park Design, and the alliance with WHSAD was formed in order to achieve the environmental, social, and economical improvement of the lakefront and in the town itself. Project Witness: Meeting with founder, Ruth Lichenstein
If you don’t already know, Project Witness is an organization dedicated to making the stories of those whose lives were greatly impacted by the Holocaust heard. Project Witness provides assistance for Holocaust education while giving full devotion to its essential mission which researches and discovers the physical and emotional pain of the stories Holocaust survivors have to tell. Christopher Koestner-Sophomore English How have you been keeping calm and collected during this quarantine? "I’m an introvert by nature, so I know how to spend time alone. I love people, but I have music, books, cooking, and cats to keep me entertained. Architectural Grille
Architectural Grille is an entirely operating manufacturing facility that specializes in customized linear bar grilles and perforated grille using a wide variety of materials. Their products are uniquely created using only "state of the art" equipment like water jets, lasers, and CNC turret shapers and lathes. The main focus of the company is to create unique designs and distribute them on metal plates which are used in mainly ventilation and heating systems. Their utilized materials include aluminum, brass, bronze, steel and stainless steel.
