Topic 9 (Test Review and SAS Congruence)
Remember we're having a full period test tomorrow 10/9. Today in class we worked on a review sheet that covers the topics you will see on the test. To review constructions go to http://www.mathopenref.com/ and scroll to the construction section. Pay special attention to perpendicular bisectors and angle bisectors. We also added another congruence shortcut to our bag of tricks. We used patty paper to trace 2 sides and their included angle to test SAS (side, angle, side) congruency. It turned out that SAS works and any triangles that share 2 sides and the included angle will be congruent. Review sheet and classwork below: [gview … [Read more...]

Topic 8 (SSS Triangle Congruence)
Today, we examined the concept of congruence. congruent - the same shape and size We learned that if you can rotate, shift, and/or flip an object so that it perfectly lines up with another, then those objects are congruent. We want to be able to easily tell if triangles are congruent and we can do this through Congruence Shortcuts. The first shortcut we examined was SSS where two triangles share the same three sides. We used patty paper to arrange and examine triangles with the same sides and found that they were always congruent. … [Read more...]
