Notes and Aim for September 9th
Aim: Why is it important to know the history surrounding a novel's creation? Today we talked about the author of Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury. We also discussed the time period in which he was writing, essentially what's going in the world that majorly influences him. We must remember that all art is a response to time and context, both historical and personal. Bradbury, a man who's born right after World War I, right before the Great Depression, and is a grown man during World War II is affected and influenced by these things. Check out the attachment in order to document the notes. As we continue reading, we will see how the notes majorly influence the creation of Fahrenheit 451. Also, here's a link to a video of another … [Read more...]
Topic 3 (Triangle Terminology) Classwork and Homework
Greetings Students, In this lesson we looked at the terms used to describe triangles: Words that Describe Sides: equilateral - all sides are equal isosceles - two sides are equal scalene - no sides are equal Words that Describe Angles: right - one angle is a right angle (90 degrees) obtuse - one angle is obtuse (greater than 90 degrees) acute - all angles are acute (less than 90 degrees) If we pick one word from the angle section and one word from the side section we can accurately describe any triangle. For Extra Practice and Explanations: http://www.regentsprep.org/Regents/math/geometry/GP5/LTriangle.htm Attached below are the classwork and homework assignments … [Read more...]
Topic 2 (Exterior Angles in a Triangle) Classwork and Homework
Greetings Students, In this lesson we used protractors to measure the three angles outside of various triangles by extending their sides. We added up our results and conjectured that the sum of the exterior angles of a triangle is 360 degrees. We also compared the measure of each exterior angle to the sum of its opposite exterior angles and conjectured that these measures are equal. We created our next triangle theorems: Triangle Theorem 2: The sum of the exterior angles of a triangle is 360 degrees. Triangle Theorem 3: The measure of an exterior angle in a triangle is equal to the sum of the opposite interior angles. For Extra Practice and … [Read more...]
