Dimensional Analysis 2
Today we went back over the definition of a mole (see Monday's post) and practiced dimensional analysis (yesterday's post). Aim: How does dimensional analysis apply to different units? Dimensional Analysis 1
Today we learned about dimensional analysis. This is a way of treating unit labels like algebraically operable quantities, so that we can divide them out if we need to do so. Aim: How do we keep track of units in chemistry problems? Presentation: [gview file="https://www.whsad.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Unit-5.2.5-Dimensional-Analysis.pptx"] … [Read more...]

Reflection Classwork 1/6/14
A reflection over a line k (notation rk) is a transformation in which each point of the original figure (pre-image) has an image that is the same distance from the line of reflection as the original point but is on the opposite side of the line. Remember that a reflection is a flip. Under a reflection, the figure does not change size. [gview file="https://www.whsad.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Wkst_Reflection.docx"] … [Read more...]

Unit , Day 2: Moles
Today we learned about moles. A mole is a unit of measurement in chemistry that we use to compare the number of objects in a set. Some people refer to the mole as the "chemist's dozen." In the end, we need to be able to do only two things with it right now: Calculate the molecular mass of a molecule, using the chemical formula Convert molecular mass to molar mass We will go over this again tomorrow. In the mean time, here are some resources to study from: Midterm study sheet: [gview file="https://www.whsad.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Chemistry-Midterm-Study-Sheet.docx"] Unit 4 Study Sheet: [gview file="https://www.whsad.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Unit-4-Review-1.pptx"] Unit 4 Test: [gview … [Read more...]
