Translations Classwork & Homework Jan 2nd
One type of transformation is a translation. A translation "slides" an object a fixed distance in a given direction. The original object and its translation have the same shape and size, and they face in the same direction. Below are several extra credit options or you can create your own. 1) Complete the logic puzzles below. 2) Create a construction flip book. 3) Create a photo journal. Take pictures of 'real life' examples of geometry in nature and architecture. You can do one theme "congruent triangles" or it can be a mix. Snowflake Symmetry Project
"No Two Snowflakes are Alike" is a familiar quote. On Thursday, December 19th students will use the same set of directions to create snowflakes in class and discuss their similarities and differences. We will explore the concepts of symmetry (point, line, and rotational) and discuss characteristics of congruence and similarity. For this assignment, you are to read the New Yorker article and write a one page reflection (see attached). You are to submit one of your snowflakes with the project.
