SculptureCenter’s Public Process High School Internship Program is a FREE three-week summer intensive program (July 5-22, 2016). Interns visit public art sites, meet with arts professionals, andĀ engage with artists in their studios to gain a deeper understanding of what goes into creating a public artwork. This summer, speakers and field trips will focus on issues surrounding public space, public art, and its relationship to advertising and the media. Topics will include contemporary art, urban design, the history of public art in New York City, community activism, and media representation. At the end of the program, interns will join a selection panel to choose a public artwork to be temporarily installed in Long Island City, Queens.
Public Process is an unpaid internship program. School credit and community service hours are available to qualified students. All students accepted into the Public Process internship program will receive an MTA Metrocard to subsidize their travel expenses, along with a daily snack and writing materials.
