My main goal in WHSAD is to stay focused and be successful by the time I graduate. This is important because it’s an independent goal I want to follow. By staying focused and saying to myself every day, “I can do this,” I will achieve, and I find encouragement by reminding myself that I need to achieve this goal.
I believe what makes WHSAD special is that it’s an architecture school, but it accommodates everyone and their specific goals. For example, the jobs we can get are not only architecture and design specific, but also SYEP and the community service opportunities. Also, I make the announcements for the school every morning. The school has a lot of connections that are unique and cool when it’s time for us to network. WHSAD has given me an opportunity to be me and experience different things in terms of internships such has Incubator and ACE, which are two superb programs. WHSAD has an opportunity for any and everybody who shows interest.
I believe they chose me because of my hard work and dedication I put towards my work every day in class. When I’m given a task in class, I do it as I give myself no choice but to do it. My favorite classes are Medgar Evers English and Building and Design.
My aspirations when I graduate are to be successful and happy at the same time, living a stress-free and independent lifestyle with a good job. The colleges I’m interested in are University of Pittsburgh and Ithaca College. The teachers at WHSAD are caring and inspired to teach us and go beyond making this seem like a 9-5 job. They put the effort in to help you understand.
