Let’s eat! This workshop will celebrate winter vegetables. Geared toward teens, they will cover basic vegetable preparation for cooking a variety of dishes. Participants will get hands-on experience and help in preparing a dish. Everyone will have the opportunity to share and taste test the prepared dishes! Recipes will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring seasonal or family recipes to share with others during their time together. Registration and photo ID is required and allow time to get through security. It is on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the Green Thumb Office in Manhattan.
There is a teen, safety, and self-defense class specifically designed for teenagers to effectively learn how to handle assault. This class covers traditional martial arts techniques and advocates for respect, harmony, inspiration, and living in calmness of mind. It is on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Franklin Square Public Library.
The Bronx Zoo is a great place to go and have fun! You can visit the Congo Gorilla Forest, Jungle world, and so much more. There is also a Bug Carousel that you can all enjoy. General admission is free all day on Wednesdays.
If you are interested in looking at different plants and flowers or just want to experience what’s around you then The Brooklyn Botanical Garden is the place for you! Explore all 52-acres of the garden and the environment in which the plants and flowers are around. Admission is free on Tuesdays and Fridays and the garden is opened from 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM
