Graduation is one of these experiences in a person’s life that doesn’t come around frequently, so when it does, it is very special. Graduation is a time to celebrate and remember all of your accomplishments throughout the past four years. When looking back, many can get emotional at realizing not only how far they’ve come, but how much further they still have to go.
Below the Class of 2019 Seniors recount the bittersweet emotions felt on the day of their graduation.
Trevon West: “Graduation day was full of mixed emotions: happiness, sadness, and most of all, hope for our future. Saying goodbye to people that I’ve struggled and grown with through the past 4 years was very hard. Because honestly, without WHSAD, I believe we would all be very different people, and for this I will always be grateful.”
Joseph Balbuena: “We’re leaving. We graduated. We’re moving on. It wasn’t that sad, right, everyone was really happy. I didn’t see many people crying. We were all happy being with one another and seeing people graduate. I got awards, a photography award, a Y-Plan award, and the CTE certification award.”
Dante Meade: “Graduation was a day full of many emotions. Honestly, it was very depressing. A lot of the people that I graduated with that day I have grown to know them as a second family. Saying goodbye to a lot of my friends and teachers was emotional; because unfortunately, I may never see a lot of them again. Despite it being sad, it was also very rewarding as we all got to celebrate our strives over the past four years to get where we are in life.”
Juan Valencia: “I’m both happy and relieved to know that school is finally over. It’s been a long time, and I’m relieved that after four years it’s over. Although I am going to miss WHSAD, and certain people, I’m looking forward to the future, and towards not only my success but the success of all my peers who graduated with me.”
