Last Thursday and Saturday, WHSAD students continued their hard work in beautifying the Harry Van Arsdale campus hallways. Working with representatives from City Year, a not-for-profit volunteer organization, WHSAD students sanded and primed the hallway and stairwell walls in preparation for the Starbucks Service Day on April 26th.
Several of WHSAD’s students also worked on designing banners designed to welcome over 500 Starbucks employees to the Harry Van Arsdale Campus during the big mural design day. Pictured on the left are juniors Kyla Gardner and Jared Soto designing welcome signs for these volunteers.
City Year also trained these students on leadership skills that they would apply on April 26th, when each of them would be asked to lead teams consisting of 10 Starbucks employees in turning designs they created in their Architecture classes into a large-scale mural on the second and third floor hallways.
